MIGATE Training Awards - 17th May 2008MIGATE is holding its annual 2007 Training Awards evening on Saturday 17 May 2008, at the Carpentaria Buffalo Club, Mount Isa, in order to formally recognize those people who are excelling in their chosen fields, and those businesses helping them to achieve their goals as MIGATE Host Trainers (businesses where apprentices and trainees are placed for their on-the-job training). This year we have nine nomination categories: APPRENTICE OF THE YEAR TRAINEE OF THE YEAR APPRENTICE ENCOURAGEMENT AWARD MOST IMPROVED APPRENTICE OR TRAINEE SCHOOL BASED APPRENTICE ENCOURAGEMENT AWARD LARGE HOST TRAINER OF THE YEAR MEDIUM HOST TRAINER OF THE YEAR SMALL HOST TRAINER OF THE YEAR JUDGES CHOICE AWARD FOR CONTRIBUTION TO GROUP TRAINING Apprentices and Trainees are judged on their on and off the job performance, while receiving their off-the-job training at a Registered Training Organisation (RTO such as TAFE) and within their respective on-the-job respective work environments. A panel of experienced training-related judges from across the community will have a huge job on their hands as the quality of the nominations this year exceeded all expectations. MIGATE has three categories for Host Trainers, including a Judges Choice Award for Contribution to Group Training in order to appreciate Host Trainers who are helping our Apprentices and Trainees achieve their goals within a Group Training Framework. Limited tickets are still available from the MIGATE office for $35.00 each which includes a three course meal, the awards presentation and with local luminary Viv Edwards providing live entertainment. Opportunities exist at MIGATE for those wishing to change careers or to embark upon a new career with a skill-based apprenticeship or traineeship, regardless of age or gender; as well as school-leavers, there has been a marked increase in recent years for adults of all ages and for women to gain trade qualification with MIGATE.
