Respecting your Privacy
MIGATE is committed to supporting the National Privacy Principles for the fair handling of 'Personal Information' which sets clear standards for the collection, access, storage and use of personal information which it obtains as part of its business operations.
MIGATE's respect for its clients, employees and applicants' right to privacy of personal information is paramount. It has policies and procedures to ensure all personal information, no matter how or where it is obtained is handled sensitively, securely and in accordance with the National Privacy Principles.
The privacy policy sets out:
Matters of which you should be aware regarding information MIGATE may collect about you and/or your business;
MIGATE Policies on the management of personal information; and
Generally, what sort of information we hold, for what purposes, and how we collect, hold, use and disclose that information.
Privacy law requires MIGATE to collect personal information about you, only from you if it is reasonable and practical to do so. MIGATE takes measures to ensure personal information is protected from unauthorized access, loss, misuses, disclosure or alteration. MIGATE also takes measures to destroy or permanently de-identify personal information, when it is no longer required. The types of measures it takes vary with the type of information and how it is collected and stored. Generally, you have no obligation to provide any information requested by us. However, if you choose to withhold requested information we may not be able to provide you with the services that depend on that information, particularly if that information is required by law.
Collection of Personal Information
To enable MIGATE to provide service to you or your business, it may ask for personal or business details, such as name, address, contact details, ABN number (potential and/ or host trainers), Tax file details, references and employment history.
Some areas and reasons for which MIGATE may need these details are:
Recruitment Agency: To determine suitability for employment of applicants. Administration Department: To provide correct costing, wages, invoicing and for tax purposes. Operations Division: Indenturing of Apprentices and Trainees, assistance with course enrolments and performance appraisals. Management Division: Wage reviews and performance appraisals.
How is Personal information used?
The personal information that we ask for is generally used to provide services to you. For example as a host trainer, MIGATE will need to collect details about your business such as a contact name, ABN and WorkCover classification code to ensure you receive the correct costing. As an Apprentice/Trainee MIGATE will use your information to pay wages, prepare indentures, pay superannuation and book college. As an applicant, your employment history, referees, aptitude test results and contact details will be used to determine employment suitability.
MIGATE may need to pass your information on to third parties as a part of our service. Where possible, MIGATE endeavors to ensure that the disclosure of information to any third parties is treated with confidentiality and all information is disposed of when no longer required.
Access to your Information
MIGATE will provide you with access to any personal information it holds (except in the limited circumstances recognised by privacy law). If you require access to your personal information, MIGATE will require proof of identity. For most requests, your information will be provided free of charge. However, MIGATE may charge a reasonable fee if your request requires a substantial effort on our part. If you need to update your information, (change of address, contact, business details) please contact MIGATE so that the changes can be made.
