About MIGATE

Mount Isa Group Apprenticeship, Traineeship & Employment Inc. (MIGATE) was established in the North-West Region in 1988. Since its inception, MIGATE has employed in excess of 1800 Apprentices and Trainees in all trade areas available in the North-West region of Queensland.

MIGATE has provided and continues to provide cost-effective, tax-deductible and professional Group Training services to a large number of "Host Trainers" (employers) with impressive success and to great satisfaction, to both the Mount Isa business community proper as well as immediate outlying regional areas. MIGATE's Host Trainers have included small, medium and large employers in areas as diverse as retail, wholesale, light and heavy industry, hospitality, educational services, government services, mining, automotive, aviation, engineering, and horticultural.

This assistance/service covers full-time and/or school-based apprenticeships as well as full-time and/or school-based traineeships, for youth, school-leavers and adults in a comprehensive manner that includes diligent pastoral-care. Deserving MIGATE apprentices and trainees have been acknowledged in Queensland and Australian Awards as successful nominees and recipients, highlighting this regions talent and its capacity to make a quality difference in the widespread skills shortage.

The types of services MIGATE offers for apprenticeships and traineeships include:

• Apprentice and trainee placement;
• Management of apprentice/trainee training requirements;
• Assistance with discipline and counselling needs; and
• Ongoing management of all associated apprenticeship and traineeship paperwork requirements.

MIGATE also operates a Recruitment Agency and private employment division. This area offers recruitment and selection services, psychological and aptitude testing, as well as a number of additional services to suit all of your Job Placement needs.

MIGATE is a not-for-profit community-based Group Training Organisation (GTO), and as such its business is overseen by a Board of voluntary members of the Mount Isa business community. The Board is currently headed by Chairman Jim Cullen. The Organisation provides Equal Employment Opportunity and is active in supporting women in the workplace.
